Inspection of LPG/CNG Cylinders Installed in Public Service Vehicles by HDIP & NH&MP – Sector IMDC (N-75)

The Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), in coordination with the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP), conducted a joint enforcement and technical inspection campaign focused on the installation of LPG and CNG cylinders in Public Service Vehicles (PSVs). This focused operation was carried out under Sector IMDC along National Highway N-75.

The inspection teams, comprising HDIP’s technical experts and NH&MP enforcement officers, conducted thorough checks of PSVs suspected of using non-compliant, sub-standard, or improperly installed gas cylinders. The initiative aimed to identify violations of national safety regulations and eliminate potential hazards related to unsafe fuel systems in public transport.

This proactive effort is part of a broader safety and compliance initiative intended to minimize the risk of accidents, protect passenger lives, and ensure adherence to transport and fuel-related standards set forth by relevant authorities including OGRA and the Ministry of Energy.

Strict warnings were issued on-site, and legal action initiated where necessary, under prevailing road transport and public safety laws. Vehicle owners and operators were urged to ensure the use of only HDIP-certified gas cylinders and authorized installation services to avoid legal consequences and ensure the safety of passengers and road users.

The general public is advised to refrain from using unauthorized, unsafe, or sub-standard LPG/CNG cylinders in vehicles. The use of certified fuel systems not only ensures safety but also contributes to environmental protection and roadworthiness.

This joint effort reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to promoting road safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance through active inter-agency collaboration and technical enforcement.
